The victim, identified as Myanmar national Aung Aung, was a garbage collector employed by Patong Municipality. According to initial reports, Wirasak was driving down from Patong Hill towards Patong Beach when he lost control of his car. The Nissan Almera collided with Aung before crashing into a grey Honda City driven by Chinese national Tang Xiao Lan.

The force of the impact caused Tang’s vehicle to skid into a parked black Toyota Corona Altis, owned by local 39 year old Ronnarong Kongmuang.

Emergency responders rushed Wirasak and Aung to Patong Hospital but sadly Aung was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers are continuing their investigation, gathering forensic evidence at the scene. While initial tests showed Wirasak had no alcohol in his system, further blood tests are underway to rule out any other potential causes, reported Phuket News.
