Celebrating the 2019 Australia Day, the Australian Consul General for Phuket Craig Ferguson hosted a lovely evening with guests including Phuket’s Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana along with other local dignitaries and invited local Australians.

About 300 people were in attendance as Mr Ferguson reflected on the past year and the efforts shared between Australia and Thailand, including the co-operation of Australian volunteer divers and doctors during the cave rescue at the Tham Luang Caves in Chiang Rai last July. Craig noted that two of the divers, Richard Harris and Craig Challen, were named joint Australian of the Year for 2019 last Friday.

The function was attended by notable Australians in Phuket’s community and those from other walks of life who had worked with Australians on the island during the past year.
