The quiet city of Pattaya was jolted by a tragic incident on December 3 when a 25 year old man was electrocuted in an abandoned rental room. Thepprathan Kamjornklang met his untimely death in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district of Chon Buri province, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the community.

At approximately 11.30am, Pattaya law enforcement was alerted about an electrocution at a building located near the Mapprachan reservoir. The police, along with rescue workers, responded swiftly to the call, only to discover the lifeless body of Thepprathan sprawled on the ground in front of a deserted rental room, reported The Pattaya News.

Following an immediate investigation, it was revealed that Thepprathan, in a bid to scavenge copper wires, had unfortunately come into contact with live electric wires. The wires, cut and hanging from the ceiling, were a grim indicator of Thepprathan’s last moments, suggesting that he had been in the act of removing them.

A chilling account by Kamjornklang’s friend, 27 year old Suphanan Channarong, further pieced together the sequence of events. Channarong recounted how he had seen Kamjornklang depart from his home earlier that day in search of scrap metal. Upon following his friend later, Suphanan was met with the horrific sight of his friend’s lifeless body in front of the abandoned room.

The sequence of events, as well as the evidence collected from the scene, led the Pattaya police to deduce that Thepprathan’s death was a result of accidental electrocution while attempting to steal copper wires. To ascertain the exact cause of death, his body has been dispatched to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital where an autopsy will be conducted.
