Pattaya City has embarked on a significant nature restoration project aimed at enhancing ecotourism and revitalising the ecosystem in the Na Kluea area.

The initiative kicked off with a ceremony at Khlong Nok Yang in Na Kluea, attended by local officials, including Pattaya City Mayor Poramese Ngampiches, Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Manoch Nongyai, and the mayor’s secretary, Phumipat Kamolnat. The director of the Pollution Control Division Yathasuda Pholratcham documented the event.

The Na Kluea area, a historic part of Pattaya City, is well-known for its rich blend of Thai and Chinese cultures. This vibrant community features old markets, seafood markets, temples, and shrines, and offers activities such as local fishing and cycling. It also houses the last remaining mangrove forest in Pattaya, making it a critical area for environmental conservation.

In recognition of the importance of preserving this unique ecosystem, Pattaya City’s Natural Resources Department organised a mangrove planting activity. During the event, 100 trees were planted along Khlong Nok Yang. This effort is designed not only to restore the area’s natural resources but also to boost tourism by creating a more sustainable environment.

“This project represents our commitment to maintaining a harmonious balance between human activity and nature.”

By focusing on environmental sustainability, the nature restoration project aims to attract more ecotourists to Na Kluea, thereby supporting the local economy while protecting the area’s natural beauty, reported Pattaya News.

In related news, the Department of Highways, District 16, recently launched a tree-planting initiative in honour of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s 72nd birthday. The event took place at Highway 44, between the kilometre markers 132+700, in Kanchanadit district, Surat Thani. The event saw the participation of over 700 individuals, including executives, highway department officials, employees, and contractors.

In other news, Bangkok is taking a bold step towards sustainability under the leadership of Governor Chadchart Sittipunt. Moving past the Green Bangkok 2030 initiative, the governor has set his sights on an ambitious environmental agenda.
