Bank car operator trapped inside vehicle during cash delivery at Shell petrol station
A tense scenario unfolded on December 8, when a bank car operator found himself trapped inside his vehicle amidst a routine cash delivery at a Shell petrol station in Khlong Rang, Si Maha Phot, Prachinburi. The Rabao Phai police and rescue teams were alerted to the incident at approximately 1.30pm. Armed with specialist equipment, they hurried to the scene due to the diminishing oxygen levels inside the trapped vehicle.
The distressing situation was recounted by Teerayut, a fellow operator who was working in tandem with the trapped guard. Their task was to replenish the gas station’s ATM with cash. While Teerayut was busy loading the ATM, his partner remained inside the vehicle, passing him the money. However, their smooth operation was abruptly interrupted when a gust of wind slammed the vehicle’s door shut, trapping the guard inside.
Despite Teerayut’s best efforts, the door remained stubbornly shut. He promptly alerted the Safe Guard Transport Centre of the situation, but the company’s distance from the scene meant immediate help was not possible.
Enter Suthin Khamthawin, a passerby who witnessed the unfolding drama. Recognising the urgency of the situation, Khamthawin promptly placed a call to local rescue teams. Soon enough, help arrived on the scene, reported The Pattaya News.
The rescue crew worked efficiently, managing to extricate the guard within a brief ten-minute window. Once freed from his metal enclosure, the unnamed guard was overcome with relief. The rescue team reported that the guard was on the brink of fainting due to the low oxygen levels inside the vehicle.
“The unidentified armoured guard cried with joy after being rescued as he almost fainted from low oxygen,” the rescue team reported.
It was suggested that the oxygen scarcity was likely due to the secure design of the bank car, particularly the money compartment, which was sealed tightly.
