Thai man kills wife’s ex-husband while drinking alcohol together
A Thai man killed his wife’s ex-husband after he sexually assaulted her while they were drinking together in the Isaan province of Bueng Kan.
Officers from Seka Police Station were alerted to the death of the 62 year old Thai man, Lampong Sattaphon, at 3pm yesterday, September 28. Upon arrival, officers found Lampong lying lifeless in a small house in a paddy field.
Lampong was dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt and long brown trousers. He sustained severe injuries to his face and head, exposing his skull. He reportedly died about three to four hours before the police arrived.
The owner of the house, 74 year old Udon Pengsisarn, confessed to being the murderer. He explained that he withdrew 5,000 baht from the digital wallet scheme on September 27 and bought alcohol to drink with his 44 year old wife, Nongyao Chaiwong, and Lampong.
Nongyao and Lampong were previously in a relationship. According to Udon, when Lampong became drunk, he touched his wife inappropriately, which made Udon jealous.
In a fit of rage, Udon struck Lampong with a hammer, killing him. Udon stated that he argued with Lampong many times before but had never thought about killing him.
Nongyao corroborated Udon’s account, stating that her ex-husband sexually harassed her when he was drunk. She said her husband warned Lampong to stop several times but he ignored it.
Udon was detained at the police station but no formal charges or punishment had been issued. Police are expected to question Nongyao further before concluding the case.
In a related incident reported in August, a jealous Thai man killed a teenager in the northern province of Phitsanulok after the victim gave his ex-wife a ride home. The murderer reportedly beat the victim with a baseball bat before shooting him.
Another jealousy-fuelled murder was reported the same month, in which a jealous Thai man killed his wife at their shared home in Bangkok after suspecting her of talking to other men. The husband later took his own life in the same house.
