Thai man finds wood in leg wound after reckless treatment in Nakhon Sawan

Hospital faces backlash after multiple complaints from former patients

A Thai woman took to social media to condemn Ladyao Hospital in the central province of Nakhon Sawan after her brother discovered two pieces of wood embedded in his wound three months after receiving reckless treatment there.

The victim’s sister, using the Facebook account “N’Mim Mimja, shared pictures on Tuesday, June 10, showing the bloodied wooden fragments that were removed after her brother sought treatment at another hospital.

“My brother fell from a tree and was pierced in the leg by parts of it. He received treatment at Ladyao Hospital. No X-ray or further examination was performed, the medical team merely cleaned the wound.

He had been receiving treatment there for three months. The doctor always assured us that his condition was improving, but he never felt better. Today, he switched to another hospital. The doctor there cut the wound open and found two pieces of wood inside.”

The woman added that her brother’s wound might never have healed had he not changed hospitals. She also noted that he suffered multiple complications, with a significant amount of pus discharging from the wound during his treatment at Ladyao Hospital.

Other Facebook users commented to share their negative experiences at the same hospital.

“This hospital diagnosed my father with hypertension. He took medication for over a year before they finally discovered it was kidney failure, not hypertension at all.”

“My child had a high fever, but we were left waiting from 6.30pm to 11.30pm without any treatment. I had to use a damp towel to bring the fever down myself.”

“I experienced the same thing at this hospital.”

Several netizens urged the woman and her brother to take legal action against both the hospital and the attending physician. They pointed out that the embedded wood could have led to a life-threatening infection or the loss of his leg if treatment were delayed any longer.

The post attracted widespread attention from Thai netizens and news outlets. However, the woman has not disclosed whether she intends to seek compensation or press for disciplinary action against the hospital.
