Police yesterday arrested Akradej Numark, who is suspected of being involved in the Cabine gang responsible for the deadly shooting of a father in Trang province earlier this year. The arrest of the 35 year old was confirmed by Crime Suppression Sub-division 6 commander, Pongpanot Chukaew.

Akradej Numark, also known as Tia Carbine, was apprehended by Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police at a residence in tambon Na Not, situated in Phatthalung’s Muang district. The arrest took place under a warrant that had been issued by the Trang Provincial Court based on a premeditated murder charge.

On February 8, a group of armed men named the Cabine gang, fatally shot 35 year old Sukhawit Janthawong in front of his eight year old daughter in Trang’s Palian district.

Subsequent police investigations revealed that the gunmen were part of the Carbine gang which was active in both Phatthalung and Trang provinces. The group had been hired to execute Sukhawit as a result of a family dispute.

Armed with evidence gathered by the police, the court approved arrest requests involving the alleged Cabine gang members as well as the individual who employed their services.

A CSD crackdown was initiated on April 25 in anticipation of the May 14 General Election. This operation resulted in the arrest of several suspects, with Akradej being detained yesterday.

Despite facing the charge, Akradej denied any wrongdoing. He has now been handed over to Ban Nong Euang police station in Trang to undergo legal proceedings.
