Phatthalung man decapitated by train in freak accident
A tragic train accident in the southern province of Phatthalung resulted in the death of a 32 year old man, shocking his wife who discovered the headless body. Villagers recount the incident, which occurred while they were cutting grass and noticed the train stopping unexpectedly.
The accident took place at 7.40pm yesterday, September 3, between Khao Chaison and Ban Ton Don stations in Phatthalung province. Police Lieutenant Chan Narong Sansang, an investigator with the Khao Chaison Police Station, was alerted to the incident and promptly arrived at the scene with local rescue teams.
The location of the accident was about 100 metres from an unauthorised railway crossing within the village. The victim was found lying on his back next to the railway tracks, having been decapitated by the train. His body bore severe injuries, and a blue Honda motorcycle with the licence plate 369 Phatthalung was found nearby. It was later confirmed that the deceased was a local.
Villagers at the scene were interviewed, and one described hearing a loud crash followed by the train coming to an abrupt halt while cutting grass. Upon approaching the train, they encountered the train driver, who mentioned that they had hit two individuals but only one body was found. The villager noted that the deceased was often seen walking with a dog, not another person. The train then resumed its journey.
Grisly discovery
The deceased man’s wife explained that her husband had gone to work and had not returned home by evening. She became concerned after seeing reports of a train accident on social media. She contacted her mother, asking her to call relatives to check on her husband’s whereabouts. They then went to the scene, recognising the motorcycle’s licence plate as her husband’s, leading to the shocking realisation that he had been killed by the train.
Police worked to locate the missing head of the victim before transporting the body to the hospital. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the accident and to proceed with legal actions.
A resident revealed he was cutting grass for his cows when I heard a loud crash and saw the train stop.
“I walked over and found the train driver, who said the train had hit two people, but we only found one body. I remarked that the deceased was usually seen with a dog, not another person.”
The incident has left the local community in shock, and the investigation aims to uncover further details about how the tragedy unfolded, reported KhaoSod.
