A Cambodian general expressed significant dissatisfaction after being stopped by Thai soldiers while leading a group singing at Ta Muen Thom temple. The incident was captured on video and circulated online.

During the confrontation, a Cambodian lawyer engaged in a heated discussion with the Thai soldiers.

The video, recorded by Thai soldiers, showed the Cambodian group at the southern terrace of Ta Muen Thom temple in Ta Mieng, Phanom Dong Rak district, Surin province, near the Thai-Cambodian border.

They were singing Cambodia’s national anthem and patriotic songs, leading to a disagreement with the Thai military.

In the video, a Cambodian in a white long-sleeved shirt, identified as a commander of Cambodian soldiers, communicated in both Thai and Khmer, attempting to intimidate the Thai troops.

Following the exchange, the Cambodian soldiers returned to their territory.

A report today, February 18, revealed that the Cambodian military commander is a major general, serving as the commander of the 42nd Brigade in Cambodia. He led a group of 25 housewives to visit Ta Muen Thom temple.

During their visit, the group engaged in singing local songs, prompting the Thai military to intervene, which displeased the general. He criticised the Thai soldiers, who explained that they were following orders from their superiors.

The general’s visible displeasure led him to instruct the Cambodian unit responsible for the Ta Muen Thom temple area to act similarly to the Thai side, prohibiting activities like singing at the southern staircase of the temple. He then departed the site, reported KhaoSod.

The situation nearly escalated into a confrontation as the Cambodian soldiers sang their national anthem at the temple. In response, the commander of the 2nd Army Region issued a formal protest.
