Two families living in the Yannawa district of Bangkok engaged in a physical bout of fisticuffs after a pet dog peed on a car.

Two Thai women named Ya and Phat shared footage of the brawl with the non-profit organisation Saimai Survive of Ya being physically assaulted by a neighbour called Pop at 9pm on November 29. Ya and Phat told the organisation that they had a long history of conflict with the attacker because Pop’s dog kept peeing on Ya’s car wheel.

In a Channel 3 interview, Phat disclosed that on the day of the incident, Pop’s son released the dog at 7am, prompting it to rush over and urinate on the wheel again. To address this, Pop’s father went outside with a bucket of water to clean up the mess.

While Phat acknowledged the effort to clean the wheel, she expressed lingering frustration as this had been an ongoing issue. Consequently, she confronted and complained to Pop’s father, leading to his fury. In response, he returned and kicked the car, escalating into a heated argument.

Phat asserted that Pop’s father then attempted to hit her with his motorbike. In self-defence, she retaliated by spraying him with insecticide, intensifying their disagreement before eventually parting ways.

The issue persisted as, later that evening around 9 pm, Pop approached Ya, pulled her out of the car, and subjected her to an assault.

Medical examination

Phat said she and Ya filed a complaint at Bang Pong Pang Police Station but had to wait for a medical examination to confirm the physical assault. The medical report would take a month. She thought Pop’s family would attack them again in the meantime, so she sought help from Saimai Survive.

Pop admitted to Channel 3 that her dog often peed on the wheel but that her father always cleaned it. Pop said Phat should not spray insecticide on her father because it was dangerous. On the day of the incident, she wanted to talk to Ya but ended up losing her temper, pulling her out of the car and attacking her, as shown in the video.

Pop admitted assaulting Ya, but Phat also did the same thing with her father using the insecticide. So, she filed a complaint against Phat and Ya as well.

Pop added that Ya and Phat always looked down on her, saying she was a former drug inmate and insulting her children for not having a father. This was another motive why she attacked Ya.

Officials have not yet intervened in the conflict. Netizens hoped that the tension between the two parties would improve and not escalate into a more dangerous act, similar to a recent report in the northern province of Lampang, where a dog owner punched his neighbour to death after a conflict over dog waste.
