A Filipino man allegedly committed a murder-suicide by jumping from the 23rd floor of a Bangkok condo, dragging his Chinese girlfriend with him.

Pairat Saengjit, an employee at the condominium in the Bang Na district of Bangkok, filed a report with officers at Bang Na Police Station at about 5pm yesterday, August 26, after the bodies of a foreign couple were discovered outside the building.

Pairat revealed to the police that a school bus driver, who had come to drop off a student, stumbled upon the lifeless bodies when leaving the condominium. The bodies were on the road at the back of the building, blocking it at the spot.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the foreign man lying lifeless in a yellow polo shirt and black trousers. The foreign woman, believed to be his girlfriend, was wearing a white polka dot long-sleeve shirt and grey trousers. Both had sustained multiple wounds to their heads and bodies, and their arms and legs were broken.

The two deceased were later identified as 25 year old Filipino man Wifredo JR Castillo Mandane and 30 year old Chinese woman Min Wang. The Filipino man was a teacher at a school in the Udomsuk district of Bangkok while Min was a teacher at a different school.

Police searched their condominium room on the 23rd floor and found signs of an argument and a fight, with multiple items scattered on the floor.

Officers reviewed security camera footage from the building and found that the two had jumped off the balcony of their room together.

ThaiRath reported that the Filipino man jumped off the balcony first, dragging his Chinese girlfriend with him. According to the media, CCTV footage showed that the woman had not consented, leading to suspicions that the incident was a murder-suicide.

However, police have not yet confirmed the motive behind the couple’s actions. They believe that some messages on the Chinese woman’s mobile phone may have angered the Filipino man, leading to a fatal argument.
