Abbott wins 6 million baht lottery, plans temple development

Devotees gathered in large numbers at Wat Nong Tao in Mueang subdistrict, Nakhon Sawan province, to congratulate the abbot on his lottery win. The abbot, who won 6 million baht with the winning numbers 847377 from the February 16 draw, remained silent, only smiling as he walked around the temple grounds.
The bustling atmosphere at the temple was heightened by a yearly ordination ceremony, attracting many visitors who had heard about the abbot’s fortune. The abbot of Wat Nong Tao, Phra Khru Nirut Bowonkan Apinyano, had won the first prize in the lottery, much to the delight of his followers and the temple-goers.
Despite attempts by reporters to question the abbot about his win and the source of the winning numbers, he chose not to comment. He continued to keep a low profile, smiling as he moved around the temple, with plans to collect his winnings the following day.
According to Muay, the temple’s cook, the abbot indeed won the top lottery prize. He had purchased the ticket from a vendor who regularly sold lotteries at the temple just a few days before the draw.
The abbot chose the number 77, derived from his age, and routinely bought several tickets. Although he only secured one winning ticket, he plans to use the prize money to further develop the temple, with a portion possibly given to family members, reported KhaoSod.
When questioned about any dreams or reasons for the number choice, Muay mentioned that the abbot had a dream where someone gave him money, but he didn’t think much of it. He bought the ticket from a vendor at the temple, focusing on the number 77 due to his age, and was fortunate to win the first prize.
