Bangkok police raid leads to seizure of illegal contraband, sex toys

Police in Min Buri district conducted raids on three locations linked to a Chinese financier, resulting in the arrest of Thai and foreign nationals for illegal entry and the seizure of a substantial amount of contraband, including over 10,000 sex toys and numerous e-cigarettes.

Today, February 6, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, along with key officers including Police Major General Napasin Poolsawat, Police Major General Kiatikul Sonthenre, and others, directed a team to execute search warrants at the premises. The operation was conducted under the authority of the Min Buri Criminal Court’s search warrant number 71/1568, dated February 4.

The first location led to the capture of 29 year old Napak or Nok Priyapatsakooltra and 36 year old Yu Long Li, a Chinese national, along with an extensive collection of e-cigarettes and related products. The confiscated items included 65 e-cigarettes, 1,930 bottles of 30ml e-liquid, 1,875 bottles of 60ml e-liquid, and 36 tanks of e-liquid with a total weight of 578 litres.

Charges against the people include concealing or receiving goods known to be smuggled into the kingdom without customs clearance, violating the Customs Act B.E. 2560, section 246. Additionally, charges were made for illegal entry against foreign nationals at the site located at house number 199/71, KC Natural Ville, Soi Romklao 11, Saen Saep subdistrict, Min Buri district, Bangkok.

At another location, 25 year old Thanakrit Thongrakchan was arrested alongside a cache of 1,889 timer plugs and 6,164 power banks. Similar charges were filed against him under the Customs Act for possessing goods without customs clearance.

He was apprehended at house number 4/247, Moo Bua Khao, Soi Ramkhamhaeng 174, Min Buri subdistrict, Min Buri district, Bangkok.

Thanakrit confessed to packaging and labelling goods for online orders under the employment of a Chinese national named Tee. He had been working since December 2022, earning 10,000 baht (US$300) monthly in cash.

Police informed him of his legal rights and charges before detaining him and seizing the evidence.

The final raid, authorised by search warrant number 72/2568, also dated February 4, was at house number 50/116, Moo Perfect Place 2, Soi Ramkhamhaeng 174.

Items confiscated included 1,970 sex toys, 1,440 female-like opening cylinders, 880 large male-like rubber dildos, 790 small male-like rubber dildos, 790 vibrating stimulators, 2,500 short rod stimulators, 600 sleeves, 470 rings, 80 small fake vaginas, and 500 enhancing penis sleeves, totalling 10,000 items, reported KhaoSod.

These items were handed over to investigators at the Min Buri Police Station to pursue further legal actions against those responsible.

The financier behind these operations is reportedly Tee, a Chinese national who returned to China before the Chinese New Year, leaving another Chinese national, Leng, in charge during his absence.
