Knife-wielding Thai man causes chaos in Prawet district, Bangkok

A man wielding two knives caused chaos in the Prawet district of Bangkok after attacking locals. The Thai police are struggling to restrain him, urging residents to stay vigilant as the situation remains unresolved.

A post on Facebook page Nakorn 45 Anuwat Phoampai detailed the incident.

“Everyone ran for their lives! Rescuers arrived to assist a patient following a distress call, but upon arrival, the patient suddenly grabbed two knives and started attacking in the Prawet area.”

Rescue officials today, July 30, spoke with reporters, revealing that they had been alerted by the suspect’s mother to take her son to the hospital. Initially, conversations with the son were normal but as they prepared to leave, the young man suddenly exhibited erratic behaviour. He grabbed two kitchen knives and charged at the rescue workers attempting to transport him.

The sudden aggression caused the rescue team to flee and immediately contact Prawet police to intervene. However, the situation escalated as the man became increasingly agitated, brandishing the knives wildly, said one resident.

“He was swinging the knives and running towards anyone in his path.”

Despite efforts from the police to contain the individual, he managed to evade capture. The man crossed several lanes of a major road, further complicating efforts to apprehend him. The police have yet to gain control of the situation, and the police express significant concern for the safety of nearby residents, reported KhaoSod.

An officer on the scene made known that his primary concern was the safety of the public.

“We are doing everything we can to apprehend him without further harm.”

As the man continues to elude capture, residents in the area are advised to stay indoors and avoid the vicinity until the situation is resolved. Police vehicles are actively patrolling the area, maintaining a watchful eye and responding to any developments.
