Heavy rain and extreme heat hit 38 Thai provinces

Residents in 38 provinces across Thailand are advised to prepare for heavy rainfall, particularly in the south, where 60 to 70% of the area is expected to experience severe weather. Meanwhile, the overall temperature across the nation remains extremely hot, especially in the northern region.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasts that in the next 24 hours, the south will continue to face heavy rain in some areas. Residents in these regions should be cautious of potential dangers from heavy and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods or forest runoff.
Thunderstorms are expected in upper Thailand, accompanied by strong winds, while the overall temperature remains hot, with some areas in the north experiencing extreme heat.
In the north, the weather is generally hot, with extremely hot conditions in some areas. Thunderstorms are expected in 10% of the area, with strong winds likely in parts of Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Temperatures will range from 22 to 27 degrees Celsius to a high of 37 to 40 degrees Celsius.
The northeastern region will also experience hot weather, with thunderstorms expected in 20% of the area and strong winds primarily in Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Buriram. Temperatures will range from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius to a high of 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.
In central Thailand, the weather remains hot with thunderstorms expected in 30% of the area and strong winds in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Samut Songkhram. The temperature will range from 24 to 28 degrees Celsius to a high of 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.

The east will have hot weather with thunderstorms in 30% of the area, mainly in Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Temperatures there will range from 24 to 28 degrees Celsius to a high of 33 to 37 degrees Celsius. The sea will have waves about 1 metre high, reaching over 2 metres in thunderstorm areas.
On the south’s eastern coast, thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the area with heavy rain in some places, particularly in Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat. Temperatures will range from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius to a high of 34 to 36 degrees Celsius. The sea will have waves about 1 metre high, rising over 2 metres in thunderstorm areas.
The western coast of the south is expected to have thunderstorms in 70% of the area with heavy rain in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, and Trang. Temperatures will range from 23-25 degrees Celsius to a high of 30-33 degrees Celsius. The sea will have waves about 1 metre high, exceeding 2 metres in thunderstorm areas.
In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, the weather is generally hot with thunderstorms expected in 30% of the area, with temperatures ranging from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius at the lowest to 35 to 38 degrees Celsius at the highest, reported KhaoSod.
