Tragedy as 71 year old killed by own vehicle in Kamphaeng Phet
A tragic accident occurred yesterday, December 24, as a 71 year old man was killed by his agricultural vehicle after it lost control and overturned on a road in Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand. The incident happened on the road between Baan Mai Suwannaphum and Na Bo Kham in the Thep Khun Ram area.
Police received reports about the accident involving an overturned agricultural vehicle, commonly referred to as an e-tok, resulting in one fatality at the scene. Upon arrival, the police and rescue team from the Kamphaeng Phet news rescue unit discovered the body of 71 year old Som, lying face-down in a pool of blood on the road.
He was dressed in a grey long-sleeved shirt and black trousers, with visible injuries all over his body. His vehicle, loaded with firewood meant for charcoal production, had crashed into a nearby fence on the opposite side of the road.
Security camera footage from a local captured the moment the e-tok lost control and veered off the road, causing the victim to fall onto the road surface, where the vehicle’s wheels tragically ran over him, resulting in his immediate death.
To prevent further accidents, police spread sand over the area where oil from the e-tok had leaked onto the road, ensuring other vehicles would not skid or slide.
Relatives of the deceased arrived at the scene soon after being informed, visibly distressed and grieving over the sudden and tragic accident.
The investigation revealed that the deceased had been collecting wood from a friend’s house to use for charcoal production, which was his primary occupation. The accident occurred on his way back home, reported KhaoSod.
Police are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the e-tok’s loss of control. Meanwhile, the rescue team transported Som’s body to Kamphaeng Phet Hospital for an autopsy. Following the examination, the body will be returned to the family for traditional funeral rites.
