Nan’s worst: Thai man arrested for lewd video call blackmail

A 26 year old man from Nan province has been arrested for allegedly luring a young girl into a lewd video call and subsequently blackmailing her.
The incident, which occurred in 2024, led to the alleged pervert’s arrest yesterday, March 18, by senior officers including Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom and Police Lieutenant General Napasilp Phulsawat.
The suspect, Chanoknan, was apprehended under a warrant issued by the Chiang Mai provincial court, numbered 2067/2024, dated December 24, 2024. The charges include possession of child pornography for sexual exploitation.
The arrest took place at a shelter for the homeless, linked to a proactive initiative by the Royal Thai Police and the Metropolitan Police Bureau to pursue suspects with sexual offence warrants. Spearheaded by Police Sub-Lieutenant Yotchanchin Prasertsopa, the investigation traced Chanoknan’s whereabouts to his place of employment at the shelter.
Investigation revealed that Chanoknan, who had been evading arrest, had secured a job at the shelter. Upon his capture, he admitted to indecently video-calling and blackmailing the victim.
He also confessed to sharing explicit images and video call recordings with friends who shared similar sexual interests, reported KhaoSod.
Following his confession, the police conducted an arrest and transferred Chanoknan to Mae Rim Police Station for further legal proceedings.
