Cyber police raided a hermitage in Khon Kaen, arresting a renowned lottery tipster for promoting illegal online gambling. The tipster, with a large following, admitted to receiving a monthly payment of 15,000 baht for advertising online lottery links.

Following complaints from the public, cyber police launched an investigation into a popular TikToker known for spiritual content, who commands an audience of over 300,000 followers.

This individual, identified as 37 year old Chamnong, was reportedly posting lottery predictions for both Thai and Vietnamese lotteries on a Facebook page named A. Nongnoi Thamnadabas, which has nearly 50,000 followers. The posts included QR codes and links encouraging followers to join online gambling groups on Line.

A cyber police officer conducted an undercover operation by infiltrating the Line group to gather evidence of illegal activities under the Gambling Act.

On December 4, cyber police, led by Police Colonel Adichart Amornpradit from the Special Tools Analysis Division, executed a search warrant issued on December 3, to investigate a hermitage located in Moo 2, Pa Wai Nang subdistrict, Ban Fang district, Khon Kaen. This location was the residence of the suspect, known as Ajarn Nongnoi Thamnadabas, or Chamnong.

During the search, police found a mobile phone used by Changnong to create various content. Examination of the device revealed evidence of posts guiding purchasing online lottery tickets, along with links for joining online gambling groups on Line.

Consequently, Changnong was charged with advertising or inducing others to participate in gambling, directly or indirectly, without permission from the police.

Chamnong disclosed that an unidentified individual contacted him via LINE, offering payment for promoting online lottery sales. In exchange for a monthly fee of 15,000 baht (US$440), he created a LINE group to share daily lottery tips, directing interested members to an online lottery trading group.

For approximately four years, Chamnong had been involved in this activity until cyber police eventually traced him to his residence and arrested him. Aside from his online activities, Chamnong had gained fame for setting up a hermitage to offer services such as tattooing, casting love charms, fortune-telling, and Thai traditional massage, reported KhaoSod.

His live broadcasts on Facebook and TikTok often featured lottery predictions, which were reportedly accurate on multiple occasions, leading many followers to win consecutive lottery draws. This success attracted significant attention from lottery enthusiasts, boosting his popularity.
