Civil servant caught filming police officers in Khon Kaen restroom

A civil servant from Udon Thani has been detained for clandestinely recording two police officers in a restroom in Khon Kaen with plans to share the footage in online groups.

Police were alerted to a man exhibiting suspicious behaviour at a petrol station restroom on Mittraphap Road in the Nam Phong district of Khon Kaen yesterday, February 1, as per local media sources.

The man was discovered filming restroom patrons, including two police inspectors, using his mobile phone.

The police became suspicious and confronted the man. Upon inspecting his mobile phone, they discovered numerous videos and images of people using restrooms.

A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed a notebook listing members, a Tambon Administration Organisation (TAO) laptop, and a black handbag containing additional evidence.

The suspect, identified as A, serves as a director of a Tambon Administration Organisation in Udon Thani, according to Police Colonel Chumphon Buachum, the Superintendent of the Nam Phong Police Station.

Further investigation disclosed that A had been distributing the videos on platform X, and inviting people to join covert online groups on Line and Telegram for a fee of 250 baht (US$7.4).

Pol. Col. Chumphon stated that the suspect confessed to secretly filming people urinating and selling the videos online for over a year, reported Bangkok Post.

The suspect is initially charged with inputting obscene content into a computer system and producing and distributing sexually explicit materials for commercial purposes.
