Bang Khen police arrest brothers for motorcycle theft

Bang Khen police successfully apprehended two brothers who had been involved in motorcycle theft and dismantling parts for sale.

The operation yesterday, April 21, was led by Police Colonel Anan Warasart, with assistance from Deputy Investigation Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Kosolpiya Sima, Investigation Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Pornchai Wongprasertkan, and Investigation Inspector Police Captain Yuranan Phetmanee.

The suspects, 37 year old Panya and 30 year old Charlie, were arrested outside their residence in Sai Mai district, Bangkok, along with seven stolen motorcycles, two grey helmets, and a large quantity of motorcycle parts.

The arrest followed a report on April 17 of two men stealing a motorcycle in front of a 7-Eleven at the entrance of Soi Permsin 16. Surveillance footage led police to trace the suspects to Soi Khu Bon 20. Upon investigation, Panya and Charlie were found with a stolen Yamaha Fino motorcycle.

During questioning, Panya and Charlie admitted to stealing motorcycles, targeting areas in Bang Khen four times since March 20. They would take motorcycles parked at dormitories, apartments, and convenience stores while the owners were inside.

The stolen vehicles were either dismantled for parts or sold whole if a buyer was interested. They have committed no fewer than 10 thefts, reported KhaoSod.

Initially, police charged the two with colluding in nighttime theft using a vehicle. The case has been transferred to Bang Khen police station for further legal proceedings.

In similar news, police in Samut Prakan have dismantled a motorcycle theft ring, arresting two suspects and seizing multiple stolen vehicles and dismantled parts destined for resale.

One victim, who had purchased their motorbike just four months earlier, was devastated to find that only the frame remained.

On April 19, officers at Bang Phli Police Station, led by Police Colonel Phairoj Petchploy and his investigative team, announced the arrest of 22 year old Thanin and a 16 year old accomplice. A significant number of stolen motorcycles and parts were recovered from the suspects.
