Ukrainian coordinator calls on Thais to donate to Ukrainians

A Ukrainian coordinator in Bangkok requested yesterday that Thais help provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian victims of Russia’s invasion. At a Bangkok hotel, the coordinator said anyone interested can make a donation, and the Ukrainian embassy will give it to the location in need. On Sunday, 9,729 tourists said they wished to stay longer in Phuket, including 8,545 Russians and 1,184 Ukrainians.

An inspector at Phuket Immigration Office said his office has already helped 1,830 of the tourists. He said they have helped provide free visa extensions and find cheap accommodation, and set up a call centre to help deal with their problems. Earlier this month, Thailand’s ambassador to Russia said Thailand should adapt tourism to help with Russians’ needs in the current crisis.

The Ukrainian coordinator said he wanted to update the Thai public on the latest situation in his country so they can have a better idea of the current state of affairs.

“…humanitarian assistance is still needed from Thai people to help the war victims especially with medical supplies”.
