Chinese father shows confidence in son’s future despite poor grades
Even with a son who has the worst grades in his class, a Chinese father stood firm in a parent meeting, voicing his belief in a bright future for his child. The meeting took place at a primary school in Chingtao, Shantung province, China, where the father of the worst student in the class received commendations from other parents for his words.
The Chinese father stood up to admit and apologise to teachers and parents.
“My son’s academic performance is very poor, which may greatly hinder the children’s class but I still believe that my son can have a bright future.”
The father also stated that ordinarily, grades are the standard for parents to judge, assess, and predict whether a child is serious about studying and has a good future. From his observations, his son has a strong mental strength.
Even though his learning ability may not be good, his son is not overly worried, is not afraid to do homework, is not depressed when going to school, eats, drinks, sleeps, and plays very well. He talks well and is also creative. He has a very high emotional intelligence.
“I am a senior psychologist. My son did not inherit my academic ability and does not get high scores like his classmates but I am very proud of him. I admire his psychological qualities. I even feel that sometimes he is stronger and calmer in dealing with problems than I am.
“In the future, when entering a larger society, mental strength and emotional intelligence will be very important factors for success. Therefore, I believe that although my son is now just a loser, he can still do great things in the future, can be a family breadwinner, and contribute to the country.”
