Phuket is gearing up for Songkran with a booze-free twist! The Songkran No Alcohol Festival is back for its 11th year, promising cultural charm, live music, and family-friendly fun—without the chaos of drunken revelry.
Phuket officials are preparing for another safe and tradition-focused songkran as the island hosts the Songkran No Alcohol Festival Phuket 2025, organised for the 11th consecutive year, the event is a collaboration between the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO), the Phuket Tourism Business Association, and Limelight Phuket Shopping Mall.
Vice Governor Samawit Suphanphai announced the details at a press conference yesterday, March 19, alongside PPAO President Rewat Areerob, Phuket Tourist Association President Thaneth Tantipiriyakit, and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Director Siriwan Siharat. Law enforcement and health officials were also present to show their support.
Set to take place from 4pm to 10pm on Sunday, April 13, the alcohol-free celebration will be held on Dibuk Road, in front of Limelight Phuket and Queen Sirikit Park. The festival will feature cultural performances, live music, and traditional Songkran rituals, all within a safe and family-friendly environment.
Festival highlights:
- Traditional Buddhist ceremonies – the bathing of the Buddha image for good fortune and a water-pouring ceremony for elders.
- Siam Niramit performances showcasing Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.
- Kebaya-patterned decorations, celebrating the UNESCO-recognised traditional attire of Southeast Asia.
