Lithuanian man dies in Phuket after tree falls on motorbike

A Lithuanian man’s tropical getaway ended in horror on Phuket’s picturesque Nai Thon Beach Road.

Tragedy struck as a towering pine branch plummeted onto the unsuspecting 42 year old Eastern European, killing him instantly as he sped along on his motorbike yesterday morning, March 20.

“Shockwaves rippled through the usually serene area,” said Thanapong Keonun, village headman of Moo 4, Sakhu, who alerted the emergency services at 11.30am.

Upon their swift arrival, police and emergency responders found the victim, Arijus Norkus, near his shattered helmet and mangled motorbike.

Remarkably, another tourist navigating the same stretch on a grey Honda ADV motorcycle saw his ride damaged but escaped unscathed.

“It could have been anyone,” a witness remarked, still reeling from the close call.

Forensic teams documented the scene before transporting the deceased to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Investigations continue into this freak accident, Phuket News reported.

Only two days ago a British man’s dream holiday in paradise was turned upside down while in Phuket. His life now hangs by a thread in a Thailand hospital.

British restauranteur Ricky Eury was enjoying a sun-soaked escape in Phuket when he was mown down by a Russian tourist on the bustling streets of the island.

The suspects, Sergei Medvedev and his wife Svetlana, both arrested on the scene, were riding an XMAX motorcycle when they hit the 39 year old Bristolian as he crossed the road. The impact left him with multiple skull fractures, broken ribs, a shattered nose, and severe bleeding on the brain.

In similar news, a Russian tourist was another who lost his life when his motorcycle crashed into a roadside barrier in Srisoonthorn, Phuket, during the early hours of January 24.

Police responded to the incident on Srisoonthorn Road, located behind the Thai Watsadu store in Village 3, Srisoonthorn, around 12.10am.

Thalang Police reported that the 35 year old man was riding a motorcycle registered in Bangkok when he lost control on a curve, resulting in a collision with a road barrier.
