Thai man arrested with 1,800 meth pills and crystal meth
A 56 year old Thai man was apprehended by Bang Lamung police with a significant quantity of drugs, including 1,800 methamphetamine pills and crystal meth.
Yesterday, January 7, officers arrested Amnuay Uean-amnuay and seized the drugs, which were contained in a green plastic bag, along with a white Toyota Altis sedan, at a property in the Takhian Tia area.
This arrest followed an investigation that began on December 31 last year, when police detained a suspect known only as Toi on drug-related charges.
From this suspect, officers confiscated 163 methamphetamine pills and 3.6 grammes of crystal methamphetamine.
Police investigations revealed that Toi had been in contact with a Facebook account under the name Eed Rupsap Krub Amnuay Uean-amnuay and had conducted drug transactions with him. This information led to the arrest of Amnuay Uean-amnuay, reported The Pattaya News.
Police are continuing their efforts to apprehend other individuals connected to this case.
In related news, Thai police successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking network, seizing over one billion meth pills and other narcotics throughout the year. Assets worth more than 12 billion baht have also been confiscated.
On October 24 last year, Assistant Commissioner-General Nirandorn Lueamsri, and Somboon Thiankaew, Deputy Commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB), announced the arrest of key figures involved in the drug trade.
Police from Division 3 arrested two suspects with 600 kilogrammes of crystal meth. The arrests took place in Chaiyaphum province and later expanded to Saraburi province.
Further investigations revealed that drugs were being transported from the northeastern border areas into inner regions. On October 20 last year, police tracked the movements of suspects from Kalasin province, heading towards Nakhon Ratchasima province.
Subsequently, another target vehicle and a van driven by were intercepted at a petrol station on Mittraphap Road. Inside the van, police officers found 6.8 million methamphetamine pills.
