Thai king’s son meets famous pygmy hippo Moo Deng

Vacharaesorn Vivacharawongse, the second-eldest son of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, visited Khao Kheow Open Zoo near Pattaya yesterday, September 27. His visit aimed to snap a selfie with the world-famous pygmy hippo, Moo Deng, and explore various sections of the zoo.

Narongwit Chotchoy, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, stated that the atmosphere was very pleasant, with moderate weather. Tourists from across Thailand and abroad flocked to the zoo, primarily to see Moo Deng. Narongwit reported that around 10am, the zoo had the privilege of welcoming the king’s son Vacharaesorn, who came to explore the exhibits.

Vacharaesorn also visited the pygmy hippopotamus enclosure, where he spent time observing the famous Moo Deng. His presence delighted the zoo staff, who were excited and pleased by his visit.

On his Facebook page, Vacharaesorn posted a picture and shared a message, saying, “Today I came to see the biggest internet superstar at the moment, Moo Deng, at Khao Kheow Open Zoo. I also met a playful group of lemurs and saw schoolchildren learning and developing a love for nature and animals.”

The zoo, known for its diverse range of animals and engaging exhibits, has always been a favourite destination for both locals and tourists. Vacharaesorn’s visit added a touch of excitement, drawing more attention to the beloved zoo.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo, located near Pattaya, offers visitors an opportunity to see a variety of animals up close. Moo Deng, the pygmy hippo, has become a significant attraction due to its rising fame on the internet, reported Pattaya News.
