Minivan collides with trailer truck in Pabon: 11 passengers injured
A driver has sustained significant injuries, while 11 passengers have sustained minor injuries after a minivan crashed into a trailer truck in Pabon. Pabon Police were notified of the accident earlier this week on Songkhla Road in Trang. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to discover the damaged minivan on the road, behind the trailer truck.
Inside the minivan, rescue teams found the driver, Sirichai Soosoe, 48 years old, who had sustained severe injuries. Eleven passengers had minor injuries, comprising eight women, two men, and a five year old girl, reported Pattaya News. They were taken to nearby hospitals.
Nawarat Suwannakan, who was one of the minivan passengers, informed the Thai media that the passenger minivan driver was driving very fast from Trang. Warakorn Mueanwai, the 48 year old trailer truck driver, told rescue workers that he had just parked his truck on the side of the road only a minute before the crash occurred.
Pabon Police are continuing their investigation into the accident for further possible legal action. The incident highlights the importance of road safety and raises questions about overseeing compliance with speed limits in Thailand. The country has one of the highest road fatality rates globally, making it essential for drivers to follow the rules and authorities to enforce them vigilantly.
This accident follows news about a six-wheel truck smashing into four cars resulting in 11 injuries, including a five month old child, on Bang Na-Trat Road in the Bang Wua sub-district, Bang Pakong district, Chachoengsao province. The driver allegedly confessed that he picked up his phone to answer a call and did not notice the other cars.
The truck driver, 30 year old Nattapon Jomkhamsing, waited for police officers to arrive at the scene. Nattapon claimed that he was driving toward Bangkok in the left lane when he received a phone call. He said he did not notice cars were lining up to make a U-turn and crashed directly into those cars.
