Blaze guts Chon Buri police training centre
A blaze gutted a police training centre in Thailand’s eastern province of Chon Buri on Sunday night. The large fire broke out at the Provincial Police Training Center Region 2. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
Firefighter units from Chon Buri’s main city district were quickly dispatched to the two-storey training centre located on Soi Khao Noi in Ban Suan sub-district.
The fire had taken hold on the second floor of the building and it took the fire engines around half an hour to bring the blaze under control. Despite no one being injured, the fire caused significant damage to the building, The Pattaya News reported.
The cause of the fire is currently presumed to be a short circuit, however, a forensic examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of the incident.
This news comes in the same week that two other fires were reported in nearby Pattaya.
On Sunday, a fire gutted a Canadian man’s 20 million baht luxury villa in Pattaya. The fire started on the ground floor and spread through the entire property, damaging every room, until only the carcass of the luxury villa remained, said Nong Prue Municipality firefighter Siriwat Prachit.
Nong Prue Municipality firefighters deployed three fire engines and quickly got the flames under control.
Early on Saturday morning, a raging fire at a Pattaya condo sent hundreds evacuating. Over 200 residents of the Amazon Residence Condominium were evacuated, and at least five people were injured. Four people suffered smoke inhalation, and one foreign man suffered burns and a head injury.
Firefighters rushed to the scene to help people escape from the building. The firefighters brought multiple engines with them. Firefighters and rescuer workers praised the quick response from the condominium’s security guards, who helped evacuate the residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
