Tragedy struck a repair shop in Dan Chang district, Suphan Buri yesterday when two mechanics were fatally electrocuted due to a faulty battery charging cabinet.

The incident took place yesterday, October 3, at a car repair shop located in Village 21, Nong Makha Mong subdistrict. When rescue personnel arrived, they found 44 year old Arunrat, a mechanic at the shop, lying lifeless on the ground. Nearby, they discovered 61 year old Prathum, also known as Chaang Mued, the owner of the repair shop, in critical condition. Despite initial CPR efforts by the rescue team and subsequent transfer to Dan Chang Hospital, Prathum succumbed to his injuries, becoming the second fatality from the incident.

Pornsai Saengkhao, a rescue team member, recounted how they were alerted to the situation and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they spoke to local witnesses who reported seeing the two men working on a Volkswagen approximately 20 minutes before the incident. Upon returning from a nearby field, the witnesses found both men unconscious with wires scattered around them.

It is believed that both men were electrocuted, prompting the villagers to cut off the power supply before calling for help. Initial investigations suggest that the electrocution was caused by a faulty battery charging cabinet, which appeared to be damaged. Heavy rainfall at the time also resulted in wet and muddy conditions, likely contributing to the hazard.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, collecting further evidence to determine the precise cause of death. The families of the deceased have decided not to pursue any legal action, and the bodies have been handed over for religious rites, reported KhaoSod.
