A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Pathum Thani province near Bangkok, where a two year old boy lost his life after being run over by a cement truck. The driver of the truck blamed a broken brake system.

The devastating event took place at the TPI Concrete Company in Pathum Thani. Officers from Mueang Pathum Thani Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct investigations and questioned the truck driver, 45 year old Supoj Khwakham,

Tragically, the lifeless body of two year old Chonnakan “Foam” Chaiyaphum was discovered near the workers’ residences, where he and his family resided. Overwhelmed by grief, his mother, 27 year old Rattanawadee Soisiri, and father, 31 year old Aksorn Chaiyaphum, stood nearby, tears flowing uncontrollably.

Supoj recounted that he had parked the Nissan UD cement truck in a designated area for cleaning the mortar tank. As he stepped out of the vehicle to wash the tank, it unexpectedly began to move, tragically running over Foam, who had been playing nearby. Supoj hastily jumped back into the truck in an attempt to halt its movement, but to his dismay, he discovered that the brake system was non-functional.

Recalling the harrowing scene, Supoj said…

“When I got out of the truck to check on the boy, I saw his body covered in blood. I was unable to seek immediate medical assistance or alert a rescue team.”

Foam’s mother, Rattanawadee, told ThaiRath…

“We used to take afternoon naps together. Today, he pulled my arms and asked me for a hug. I can’t believe that was the last time we embraced each other.”

Aksorn, Foam’s father, revealed that he had experienced a distressing nightmare the night prior to the incident, leaving him feeling uneasy and stressed throughout the day.

Police officers gathered evidence at the scene and announced their intention to interview additional witnesses. Meanwhile, the young boy’s body was transferred to the hospital for an autopsy. Specific details regarding the subsequent legal proceedings and potential prosecution remain undisclosed at this time.

Regrettably, this incident echoes another tragic accident in Pattaya, where a man lost his life under similar circumstances.

In January, an Australian woman ran her car over a 32 year old man who was working at a condominium entrance. Unaware of the accident, she parked her vehicle and proceeded to her room as usual. The woman was left in shock upon learning about the man’s death, and further details regarding legal proceedings were not reported.
