In a tragic turn of events in Ang Thong Province, a 17 year old girl discovered the body of her grandmother in a car outside their home. The incident, which unfolded early this morning, is believed to have been driven by family-related stress. Authorities were alerted at 6.30am today, March 7, and an investigation into the cause of death is underway.

The peaceful morning in the Sala Daeng subdistrict was shattered by the grim discovery of a traditional raised wooden house enclosed by a fence. In the carport, the body of Watanaporn (surname withheld), a 60 year old retired government worker, was found seated in the driver’s position of her blue Mitsubishi.

The teenager recounted the events last night, explaining that she, her younger sibling, and their grandmother were at home while their grandfather was away on business. She went to bed at 10pm and awoke to find her grandmother missing from her room, leading to the heartbreaking discovery.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Tharakorn Sakunpiyatewan, an investigating officer from the Ang Thong City Police Station, along with a forensic team, hospital doctors, and volunteers from the Po Tek Tueng Foundation, responded to the emergency call. They secured the scene and are currently working to unravel the circumstances that led to the elderly woman’s death.

The initial theory posited by the police is that the deceased may have been overwhelmed by stress due to issues within the family. The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Ministry of Justice for an autopsy to determine the definitive cause of death.

In related news, a taxi driver was discovered dead in his vehicle at a gas station in Bangkok’s Jomthong district. The incident occurred early this morning, February 28, and the circumstances surrounding the driver’s death are currently under investigation.
