The Department of Land Transport (DLT), through its Road Safety Fund, announced an upcoming auction of special vehicle registration numbers for private cars with a seating capacity of no more than seven. The auction, the eighth of its kind, will be held tomorrow, August 31, from 10am at the DLT’s Building 6, Floor 7.

The event features the theme Special Numbers for Special People and will see a total of 100 unique registration numbers auctioned. These numbers are divided into four categories: super-premium, premium, and gold, each with distinct starting bid prices and number patterns.

The super-premium category includes numbers like 8888 and 9999, with starting bids at 1.5 million baht. The premium category features sequences such as 1111, 2222, and up to 7777, starting at 1 million baht. The gold category includes single-digit numbers (1 to 9), double-digit repeats (11 to 99), triple-digit repeats (111 to 999), and specific pairs like 8899 and 9988, with a starting bid of 800,000 baht.

Auction winners will receive a special printed registration plate, distinct from regular plates as it features no embossed edges and includes graphic designs in the background. These plates can be transferred to others, passed on as an inheritance, or used on already-registered vehicles.

Notable numbers in this auction include 8888 (luck), 8998 (rich), 9999 (genuine), 5 (dragon), 4 (like), 789 (jade), and 66 (beautiful).

Bidders can participate in two ways: online, either through a Maximum Bid system or in real-time, and in person. Numbers up for auction must have at least two registered bidders.

To participate, interested individuals must pre-register at the Road Safety Fund office, located on the 5th floor of Building 2 at the DLT, during business hours, or through the website. Required documents include a registration form, a national ID card, or corporate registration certificate for organisations, proof of payment, and a bank passbook copy, reported KhaoSod.

The auction process involves three steps: registering the desired number, paying the auction guarantee fee either via bank or cash, and placing bids either in person or online on the auction day at Building 6, Floor 7 of the DLT.

For more details, potential bidders can visit the auction website or contact the Road Safety Fund office at 0-2272-5937, the DLT hotline at 1584, or 0-2271-8888.
