Si Racha man donates 30 million baht lottery win to temple

A man from Si Racha scooped first prize in the recent lottery draw with five tickets, totalling 30 million baht. He intends to donate 499,999 baht to Khao Mai Daeng temple in Chon Buri for the construction of a new mandapa and a walking monk statue in honour of the revered Luang Phor Yongyuth Thammakosalo.

Vorawong (surname withheld) visited Khao Mai Daeng temple yesterday, October 2, in Bang Phra, Si Racha district, Chon Buri province, to express his gratitude to Phra Khru Wisit Thammasophon, also known as Luang Phor Sanga.

This visit followed the announcement of the lottery results for October 1, where the winning number was 718665. Vorawong’s incredible luck came after a fortuitous encounter with Luang Phor Sanga on his birthday, September 30, during which he received a blessing.

Vorawong, who resides on Kao Kilo Road in the Surasak subdistrict, Si Racha, travelled to the temple to seek blessings from Luang Phor Sanga. While waiting for his turn at 1pm, he decided to buy five lottery tickets with the number 718665. Additionally, he rented a sacred medallion depicting a revered monk, believing it would bring him good fortune.

After the lottery results were announced, Vorawong found himself holding five winning tickets, each worth 6 million baht. He attributed his luck to the blessings he received from Luang Phor Sanga and the sacred medallion.

“I believe my fortune came from the blessing and the medallion. I am extremely grateful and plan to donate a portion of my winnings to the temple.”

Wat Khao Mai Daeng in Chon Buri is renowned for its sacred significance. It was established by revered monks such as Luang Phor Yongyuth Thammakosalo, the temple’s first abbot, and Luang Phor Phut Sarasukh, a close disciple of the legendary Luang Pu Sook from Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao in Chai Nat province.
