Schoolgirl, 14, killed in motorcycle and truck collision in Lopburi
A tragic accident involving a schoolgirl on a motorcycle and a six-wheeled truck has left a family devastated. Yesterday, November 25, police received a report of a fatal collision on the Lopburi-Khok Tum Road in Lopburi province, which led to the death of the 14 year old schoolgirl.
The incident occurred when the young girl, a third-year secondary school student from a local educational institution, was crossing the road on her motorcycle. Her vehicle was struck and dragged approximately 30 metres by a six-wheeled Isuzu truck, registration number 80-3360 Lopburi, resulting in her untimely death at the scene.
Nearby, her Honda motorcycle, bearing the registration 1 กจ 6776 Lopburi, lay overturned in the middle of the road. Upon hearing the news, the girl’s grandfather, grandmother, and uncle rushed to the site. Overcome with grief upon seeing her body, they collapsed and had to be given immediate medical attention by the rescue team from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation in Lopburi.
The truck driver, 29 year old Rungroj, recounted his version of events to the police. He stated that he was driving from Phatthana Nikhom district when, quite unexpectedly, the motorcycle collided with the rear of his truck with considerable force. The family of the deceased explained that she had been riding out of their village, located on the opposite side of the road, and they were unsure how the collision with the truck occurred.
“I didn’t see where the motorcycle came from. It all happened so fast, and suddenly the motorcycle hit the back of my truck.”
Police are currently investigating the accident to determine the precise cause of the collision. The girl’s body has been sent to the hospital for further examination, after which it will be released to the family for religious rites, reported KhaoSod.
