Officers from the Phra Ratchawang Police Station in Bangkok apprehended a jewellery store employee who had been stealing gold necklaces from the store’s showcase for years, accumulating 646 baht in weight, valued at over 24 million baht. The suspect confessed to selling the gold to fund personal expenses and travel.

Today, August 26, Police Major General Samart Promchat, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 6, along with Deputy Commander Naris Pratanaporn led an investigative team to arrest 40 year old Pisan, on charges of theft from an employer. The arrest warrant was issued by the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Court, dated July 25, 2024.

Pisan was apprehended in front of a house in the Saothonghin area of Bang Yai district, Nonthaburi, on August 24 after the police had received a tip-off that Pisan was residing at the said house. Upon arrival, the officers identified themselves and confirmed Pisan’s identity before presenting the arrest warrant.

During the investigation, Pisan admitted to stealing gold necklaces from a jewellery store in the Phra Ratchawang area. He described his method of theft: he would transfer gold necklaces from the lower showcase to the upper showcase, where he would then unhook several necklaces and leave them hanging.

He would later pretend to arrange the necklaces in the upper showcase, discreetly allowing the unhooked necklaces to fall into his hand, which he then concealed in his trouser pocket. Pisan repeated this method multiple times.

Pisan confessed to stealing gold necklaces and bracelets, each weighing 1 to 2 baht, starting in June 2023. Each theft involved approximately five to 15 necklaces, continuing until he was eventually caught.

He could not recall the exact amount of gold he had stolen due to the numerous instances of theft, and all the stolen gold had been sold. The proceeds from these sales were used for daily expenses and travel.
