2 runaway horses killed in car accident on road near Bangkok
A car accident today on Borommaratchachonnani Road in Pathum Thani province, near Bangkok, resulted in the deaths of two horses and damage to three vehicles. The horses escaped from a nearby restaurant today, July 18.
The accident occurred at approximately 7.20am on Borommaratchachonnani Road in the Sampran district of Pathum Thani province. Three vehicles were involved in the accident: a minibus, an SUV, and a saloon car. Two horses were found dead on the road, one dark brown and the other white and light brown.
A picture shared by One 31 news agency revealed the blue SUV and green saloon car had crashed into the back of the minibus, damaging its front. The driver of the SUV, Chutiman, suffered minor injuries.
The saloon car driver, Weerayut Lertnatee, told the media that he was driving behind the minibus and witnessed it hit one of the horses. Weerayut then crashed into the other horse, lost control of his vehicle, and collided with the back of the minibus.
According to Weerayut, a worker from the Preda Garden Home, a restaurant on the roadside, ran onto the road to check on the animals. He learned from the worker that the horses belonged to the restaurant owner, 30 year old Ning.
Ning told Matichon that the two horses were male and aged about 10 to 11 years old. They usually stayed in their stable within the restaurant grounds and were very tame. She did not know what frightened them and caused them to run away.
Matichon reported that the accident caused a significant traffic jam on the road until the horses and the damaged vehicles were removed.
According to One 31, each driver filed an accident report with Sampran Police Station. Officers are now gathering CCTV footage and dashcam footage of the accident to determine if the horse owner should be penalised.
A similar accident was reported in June when a wild deer caused accidents on Chaiyapruek Road in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok. The animal was killed at the scene after being hit twice by two vehicles. The deer reportedly escaped from a house 1 kilometre from the scene.
