2 Burmese wanted for killing 3, including pregnant woman and child
Police officers in the southern province of Prachuap Khiri Khan are searching for two Burmese men who allegedly killed a fellow countryman, his pregnant wife, and their seven year old daughter for 50,000 baht in cash.
A Thai employer revealed how he hired a 40 year old Burmese man named Saw to work on his rubber plantation. However, Saw was absent from work at the back end of last week. The employer tried to call him several times but he did not respond so, he went to his home on the morning of Saturday, August 31.
Tragically, the employer discovered the bodies of Saw’s pregnant wife, 38 year old Kinwailai, and their seven year old daughter. Both had suffered severe head injuries, and it is believed they died three days before they were found.
In the afternoon of the same day, a resident discovered Saw’s body in the rubber plantation near the mountain. He was lying face down, and his head had been cut off.
Saw’s 32 year old brother told the police that he, his brother, and sister-in-law had been working in Thailand for more than 10 years. They were working and living legally in the country. Two of his brother’s friends had recently come to Thailand and he suspects these two men were the killers.
Thairath reported that Kinwailai was pregnant and unable to help with work on the plantation as she usually did. Therefore, Saw decided to invite two friends to live and work with him.
The employer paid Saw 50,000 baht in cash for the work and it is believed that the two Burmese suspects killed the entire family for the money. The suspects are thought to have fled to Myanmar via secret routes in the province.
An 80 year old Thai neighbour of the Burmese family, Sumrit Partsri, was summoned for questioning yesterday, September 1. Sumrit told police that he heard people engaging in a heated argument at about 10am but he could not remember whether it was on August 28 or 29.
The argument was followed by a scream of pain. Sumrit then saw two men rush away from the scene on a motorcycle. He noticed that the house where the family lived had no lights on in the evening, unlike usual. However, he did not suspect foul play until the bodies were discovered.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Police Commander Pakphum Hoyo planned to travel to Huaiyang Police Station, which is overseeing this case, to follow up on the investigation.
