13 year old girl confesses to fabricating minibus driver rape story
The 13 year old girl who reportedly accused a minibus driver of drugging and sexually assaulting her, later confessed that she had fabricated the rape story. However, a medical examination revealed signs of sexual assault and her relatives are suspected.
The grandmother of the victim revealed to the public that her 13 year old granddaughter lost control of herself and panicked after a trip to Bangkok. According to the grandmother, the girl allegedly informed her that she was raped by a minibus driver.
The grandmother added that the girl kept crying and saying the minibus driver’s name. The girl reportedly called the driver evil as well.
The girl’s father also came forward to confirm the possibility of sexual assault, as his daughter arrived at his home later than expected.
The accused driver surrendered himself to the police and denied all allegations. He insisted that he had been serving passengers for more than 30 years and had never done any illegal things.
The minibus driver’s wife stood beside her husband and accused the girl’s grandmother of inventing the incident.
Testimony withdrawn
According to the father, the girl underwent a health check-up to discover whether there were any traces of sexual assault. He stated that the doctor confirmed she had been sexually assaulted, adding that the shocking incident affected her mental health making her unable to provide any details of the case to the police.
Khon Kaen Provincial Police Station officers questioned the girl at Khon Kaen Hospital yesterday, November 9, after her health condition improved. Unexpectedly, the girl confessed that she made up the rape case. The minibus driver did not drug or sexually assault her at all.
ThaiRath reported that the girl said she had never told the family that the minibus driver was a rapist. Her family members made the statement to the media.
Nevertheless, a sexual assault did take place but a further investigation is needed to confirm the rapist’s identity. Police believe the rapist must be a person who has a close relationship with her, a family member, or her relative.
Officers added that they questioned every passenger on the minibus on the day and did not find any suspicious information.
Druggy brother
According to the father’s account, his 16 year old son travelled on the minibus with his daughter during her departure trip from his house in Bangkok to Khon Kaen.
The victim’s father added that his son suffered a mental health breakdown after the trip. He later tested positive for methamphetamine. His father does not believe his son uses drugs and demanded the police investigate to clarify this matter. He was still confident that the bus driver might have drugged both of his children.
UPDATE: Minivan driver’s alleged sexual assault of teenage girl sparks investigations
Authorities are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl by a minivan driver. The victim is currently hospitalised and unable to provide a statement due to her condition. The police are urgently examining a red liquid substance found in the vehicle. The incident took place today as reported by Police Lieutenant Colonel Sommat Mueangthaisong, the station chief of Waeng Noi Police Station in Khon Kaen.
The case came to light when the family of the 13 year old girl, referred to as A to protect her identity, filed a complaint with the police at Waeng Noi Police Station and Bang Kho Laem Police Station on November 2. They alleged that the girl had been sexually assaulted by the minivan driver.
Currently, the Metropolitan Police Bureau investigators are collaborating with Waeng Noi Police Station to collect information. Despite not being able to take the statement from the 13 year old girl, the police are actively investigating the case. They also inspected the minivan to ascertain the truth about the alleged sexual assault.
The minivan driver, who transported passengers on the day of the incident, voluntarily presented himself to the investigators to prove his innocence. The police immediately sent the vehicle for forensic examination at the Forensic Science Division 4 to compile evidentiary testimonies from all aspects before proceeding with further legal actions.
The grandmother of the 13 year old victim tearfully recounted the incident, stating that the minivan driver, had been driving for 30 years without any such incidents.
Initially, the minivan driver was not considered a suspect of sexual assault and has not been charged with any crime. He was questioned as a witness, being the owner and the driver of the minivan on the day of the incident. Since there isn’t sufficient clear evidence to proceed with charges against the driver, the police need to take the statement from the 13 year old girl first to clearly define the direction of the investigation.
Gathering witnesses
The investigators have also summoned the passengers who were travelling in the minivan on the day of the alleged sexual assault incident. The minivan operator has provided a complete list of passengers. The police are questioning witnesses to gather information about the driver’s behaviour that day, where he stopped to pick up and drop off passengers, and whether anything suspicious occurred, reported KhaoSod.
The 13 year old girl is under the care of doctors at Khon Kaen Hospital and is currently unable to give a statement. The doctors have taken blood samples and performed a CT scan awaiting detailed results. The investigators will compile this information as evidence to support the alleged sexual assault case proceedings.
A preliminary examination by the Forensic Science Division 4 revealed a red liquid substance in the minivan. The substance has been sent for forensic examination. The process usually takes about a month to determine what the red liquid substance is. The results will be handed over to the investigators at Waeng Noi Police Station to proceed with the next steps of the alleged sexual assault.
ORIGINAL STORY: Thai minibus driver allegedly drugs and rapes 13 year old girl in Bangkok
The family of a teenage girl called on the police to advance their investigation and arrest a minibus driver who allegedly drugged and raped the 13 year old. Channel 3 visited the victim’s house in the Waeng Noi district in the Isaan province of Khon Kaen yesterday, November 5, to interview the teenager’s family about the incident.
The victim’s 40 year old father, named A, said that he wanted his daughter to come and stay with him and his wife in Bangkok during the school holiday and booked a minibus for her to travel to the capital on Sunday, October 1.
A explained that the minibus was supposed to arrive at their home in the early hours of October 2. However, when his daughter did not arrive as expected, he tried to call her but she did not answer the phone. A thought his daughter must have fallen asleep in the car and called the minibus driver instead.
The driver claimed that there was traffic and roadworks on the way and that was the reason for being late. His daughter arrived later at lunchtime. A noticed that she appeared unusually quiet, attributing it to exhaustion from the journey, so he allowed her to rest.
A explained that when he had contacted the same driver to take his daughter back to Khon Kaen, the girl was crying and panicking when she met the driver. She still hugged her mother and refused to leave.
A said he was not suspicious at the time because he thought the daughter just wanted to stay with him longer. On the return to Khon Kaen, his 16 year old son, the victim’s brother, went with her.
Shocking assault
A said her daughter changed when arriving at her home in Khon Kaen on October 31. He learned from his 63 year old mother, the victim’s grandmother, that the girl lost control of herself and kept talking about the sexual assault in the minibus. She kept saying that the driver was a devil and perverted.
The grandmother, Suay, managed to convince her to speak out and learned that the girl was raped by the minibus driver.
According to the girl, the driver dropped the other passengers at their destination leaving only her in the vehicle. The driver asked her to drink some water which made her feel dizzy and weak. The driver then sexually assaulted her in the minibus. She lost a lot of blood and lost consciousness. She woke up again when she arrived at her parents’ house in Bangkok.
The victim’s grandmother said she filed a complaint at Waeng Noi Police Station in Khon Kaen and Bangkok Yai Police Station in Bangkok. However, the officers have not provided any update on the case. Suay reported that the police have not even questioned the victim in the investigation.
Suay revealed that her granddaughter has been suffering from mental health problems since the incident and has been in Khon Kaen Hospital since November 2. She will undergo a brain scan today, November 6, to determine the condition of her brain.
According to the family, the doctor initially confirmed that the girl was drugged and she bore traces of sexual assault.
The teenage girl’s father said that the minibus driver had destroyed his daughter’s life. She has not been able to go to school and will have to stay in the hospital for more than a year to stabilise her mental health. He wants the police to arrest the rapist as soon as possible.
