Police arrested an 18 year old modelling agency operator involved in the death of a female party entertainer, who was allegedly forced by a Chinese man to take drugs.

The 22 year old party entertainer, Irada, was found dead on the bed of a hotel in the Bang Kapi neighbourhood of Bangkok on February 10. She had visited the hotel to serve the Chinese client, later identified as 37 year old Duoying Wu. Wu can communicate in Thai and uses the Thai name Jadesada.

During a search of the hotel, officers discovered a drug known as happy water. This is a mixture of various kinds of drug substances and is consumed by mixing it with water. This drug was the cause of Irada’s death.

Wu reportedly fled the hotel after Irada’s death. An arrest warrant has been issued for the Chinese man, although some news outlets have reported that Wu has already left Thailand.

The modelling agency, operated by the 18 year old woman named In, acted as the intermediary between Irada and Wu. Officers from Chokchai Police Station summoned In for questioning on February 17.

In told ThaiRath that Irada worked as a party entertainer for the first time. In denied knowing whether Irada had any prior experience with drug use.

In was questioned by police officers for an hour before being transferred to the Criminal Court for temporary detention.

Police reported that In admitted to contacting female party entertainers for clients. She would collect the service fee from her customers and share part of it with each entertainer.

Normally, party entertainers are hired to look after a group of clients at entertainment venues or private parties. However, in this case, Irada was hired to meet the Chinese man at a hotel alone, raising suspicions of prostitution.

As a result, In has been charged under Section 9 of the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act for procuring, enticing, or inducing a person to engage in prostitution. The penalty for this offence is imprisonment for between one and ten years and a fine ranging from 10,000 to 200,000 baht.

Following initial questioning, police have not yet found evidence that In was involved in forcing or encouraging Irada to take drugs while providing services to the client.
