A 35 year old man was apprehended after allegedly robbing a gold store in the Wat Chula area, stealing five 1-baht gold necklaces before returning home, where police arrested him.

The suspect, Pramote Khongsriworakulchai, is accused of pawning one necklace, changing his appearance, and attempting to evade arrest.

Yesterday, March 16, at 9pm, Police Colonel Anan Warasat, along with Deputy Police Chief Kosolpiyah Seema and other officers, captured Pramote in front of his residence on Soi Ramintra 8, Bang Khen district, Bangkok. The police seized four 1-baht gold necklaces, a motorcycle, and the clothes worn during the robbery of the Aurora gold shop.

During police questioning, Pramote admitted to being the man caught on security cameras committing the robbery. After fleeing the scene, he headed towards Bang Sue, where he pawned one necklace for approximately 42,000 baht (US$1,250). He then got a haircut to alter his appearance, hoping to avoid capture.

Pramote further revealed that his girlfriend became aware of the incident and called him to ask about his whereabouts and involvement in the crime. She urged him to surrender, reasoning that he would eventually be caught. Following her advice, he returned home, where police officers subsequently arrested him.

Pramote confessed that he needed money to repay a high-interest loan as his motorcycle taxi earnings were insufficient. He stated that the firearm used in the robbery was a fake, purchased for 300 baht (US$9), only serving as a threat. After the robbery, he disposed of the fake gun in the Chao Phraya River.

The police charged Pramote with robbery using a vehicle and handed him over to the Bang Khen Police Station for further legal proceedings, reported KhaoSod.
