Fatal crash on Rama IV Road claims young woman’s life

A young man riding a large motorcycle collided with a pickup truck turning into a side street, resulting in the death of a female passenger and injuries to two others on Rama IV Road. The tragic accident occurred early today, October 11.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Natthaphat Sirinantphuchit from Thung Maha Mek Police Station received a report of a collision between a big motorcycle and a pickup truck at 5am on Rama IV Road, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. He immediately proceeded to the scene with rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation.

The incident took place in front of the entrance to the Tobacco Factory. Upon arrival, they found an Isuzu pickup truck with a Bangkok registration parked in the far-left lane. Nearby, a Kawasaki ZX25R motorcycle, green and black, also with Bangkok registration, was discovered overturned on the pavement.

The collision resulted in the tragic death of a young woman, approximately 20 years old, who was a passenger on the motorcycle. She was found with severe head injuries, lying in a pool of blood.

Two additional individuals were injured: the motorcycle driver, 20 year old Thanawat, and a 36 year old foreign pedestrian. Both injured parties were promptly transported to Vimut Theptarin Hospital for medical treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that as the pickup truck was making a right turn into the side street leading to the Tobacco Factory, the oncoming motorcycle collided with it. The impact caused the motorcycle to lose control and crash into the pavement, resulting in the young woman, who was not wearing a helmet, being thrown off and hitting her head on the ground, leading to her death, reported KhaoSod.

Police are awaiting the recovery of the injured parties to conduct further investigations. Additionally, they are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to gather evidence and conclude the details of the accident.
