Free live music every weekend this January: Music in the Park returns to Bangkok
Jazz, classical, Thai dance, and contemporary acts across city parks throughout this month
Looking for free live music in Bangkok this January? Music in the Park is back for 2026, bringing a full month of performances to public spaces across the city.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has organised concerts featuring everything from jazz and classical music to traditional Thai dance and contemporary bands, all free to attend.
The event runs throughout January 2026 through a collaboration between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation, Jellyroll Jazz Club, independent artists, and community bands. It’s a rare chance to catch diverse performances in outdoor settings without paying admission.

What to expect

The lineup covers nearly every genre you could want. Jazz fans can catch sets from Jellyroll Jazz Club, while classical music lovers will enjoy performances by the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and the Bangkok Woodwind Quintet. Traditional Thai culture is well-represented through Thai classical dance by the Rak Naty Club, a Khon performance of “Narai Subdues Nontok” by Natyarattanasilp Institute, and long-drum ensembles from Mahannop School.
Contemporary music gets plenty of stage time, too. Bands like The 1st April, NotFake, and NEWNUA will perform alongside the Bangkok Metropolitan Band, Bangkok Big Band, and The Bangkok Band. There’s also percussion from the Time Soul Percussion Group and performances from the Horwang School Band and Fine Arts Department Band.
The variety means you can show up for one style and stumble into something completely different, which is part of the appeal of outdoor music festivals like this.

Important details

Dress code: All attendees are respectfully requested to dress in mourning attire in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. This applies to all performances throughout the series.
Registration: You can register through the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s public space booking platform at The Public Space Bangkok website. While the events are free, registration helps organisers manage attendance and plan accordingly.
The full schedule of performances and park locations will be available on the booking platform. Since this is a month-long series with multiple venues, it’s worth checking the schedule in advance to see which performances match your music taste and which parks are most convenient for you.
You can keep track of details and updates on the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Department of Music’s Facebook page as well (although keep in mind that a lot of the details will be in Thai).
If you’ve been looking for something to do on weekends this January that doesn’t involve malls or air conditioning, Music in the Park offers a solid option. Bring a mat, grab some street food, and settle in for live music under open skies.
