A domestic dispute in Phatthalung ended violently when a man was struck on the head with a wooden plank by his partner. The injured man fled to seek help from neighbours and the assailant later escaped on a motorcycle.

Yesterday, September 23, Phatthalung City Police received a report of an assault at a residence in the Khuan Maprao sub-district. Lieutenant Colonel Sommai Kuasook, the investigating officer, promptly arrived at the scene with a team of police officers and emergency medical personnel.

Bloodstains and scattered belongings were found at the location but the injured party, 34 year old Nan, from Nakhon Si Thammarat, had already been taken to Phatthalung Hospital due to a severe head injury from a wooden plank.

Witnesses identified the assailant as 53 year old Toi, a local. After the attack, Toi reportedly mentioned he was going to visit his mother before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Neighbours revealed that Nan and Toi were in a same-sex relationship and had been living in nearby houses due to an acquaintance with Nan’s younger brother. They were allowed to stay as they both lacked permanent housing.

Recently, the couple frequently quarrelled, with Toi seemingly wanting to end the relationship and urging Nan to return to Nakhon Si Thammarat, said a neighbour.

“Nan refused to leave. Before the incident, we heard them arguing again, and then saw Nan running out with blood all over his face, asking for help.

“Toi then came down, started his motorcycle, and said he was going to visit his mother. He mentioned hitting Nan on the head and not knowing if he had killed him, then rode away.”

During the initial police interview at the hospital, Nan, after receiving medical treatment, expressed that he did not wish to press charges against Toi.

“I love him. I don’t want to prosecute him.”

The police will continue their investigation according to legal procedures, reported KhaoSod.
