A Thai woman, who was reported missing after boarding a pink taxi in Nonthaburi, contacted her father, saying she fled her home to escape domestic abuse and her husband’s double life.

The case first drew public attention after 44 year old Thai man Kosin Chatlertchai appealed to the online community for help in locating his wife, 30 year old Thai woman Kedsara Chanthanarot. Kosin said the couple argued before Kedsara left their home in Nonthaburi in a pink taxi late at night.

Kosin told the media that his wife had been missing for more than two weeks and that neither he nor her family could contact her. He said he attempted to trace the taxi she boarded, but no CCTV footage clearly captured the vehicle’s registration plate, raising concerns for her safety.

However, the situation took a new turn yesterday, January 8, after Hone Krasae reported that Kedsara contacted her father at around 10.45pm using a friend’s mobile phone. She reportedly told him that she was safe and staying with a friend, though she refused to disclose her exact location.

According to the report, Kedsara said she decided to leave home and temporarily abandon her nine month old son due to long-standing problems in her marriage. She alleged that her husband had been living a double life and had signed a marriage certificate with another woman.

Kedsara also claimed that on the night she left, Kosin physically assaulted her following an argument. She said she chose to disappear to recover from the situation and made it clear she would only consider returning home if Kosin resolved all issues, including divorcing the other woman.

Kosin later admitted in front of Kedsara’s father and journalists that he had slapped his wife during the argument. He insisted it was the first time he abused her and promised it would never happen again.

He also acknowledged having an affair with another woman, saying he had promised to divorce her by the end of last year but failed to do so, citing work commitments. Kosin claimed he officially finalised the divorce on January 5 and begged Kedsara to return home to him and their son, vowing not to harm her again.

As of the latest update, no further response from Kedsara regarding her husband’s plea has been made public.
