Jealous bus driver steals taxi to spy on girlfriend, gets arrested
A driver from bus Line 8, driven by jealousy after his girlfriend took leave to visit her hometown, stole a taxi to spy on her and was subsequently apprehended by the police. The 25 year old pleaded for leniency, citing his responsibility for his four year old child.
Yesterday, September 5, police officers, including Kanthaphon Wanna, Niwet Nilwadee, and Setthawut Khumnama, detained 25 year old Jirawat, along with evidence comprising a public taxi and a mobile phone. The arrest took place on the road leading to Butamyae Village in the Thepalai subdistrict, Khong district, Nakhon Ratchasima province.
The incident began in the early hours of yesterday at 2.30am when Jirawat reportedly stole an orange-and-white taxi with the registration number ทห-9824 BKK from Soi 12, Khu Khot subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka district, Pathum Thani province. Following an investigation using GPS tracking, police discovered the taxi heading towards Nakhon Ratchasima province.
Law enforcement closely pursued the vehicle until they found it parked along Road 1, near the village entrance. The suspect was promptly detained and brought back for questioning at Khu Khot Police Station.
During the interrogation, Jirawat confessed to his actions. He explained that he is a bus driver on Line 8, working alongside his girlfriend, who serves as the bus conductor on the same route. Last week, his girlfriend took leave to visit her home in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Jirawat, feeling suspicious and jealous, checked her Facebook account and discovered messages from another man flirting with her, to which she responded. Overcome with jealousy, he devised a plan to steal a taxi and secretly drive to Nakhon Ratchasima to confront her.
In his confession, Jirawat admitted to luring the taxi to a secluded area before stealing it to drive to his girlfriend’s location. He expressed remorse and tearfully pleaded for forgiveness, offering to negotiate with the taxi owner for a settlement.
He also mentioned his concern for his four year old child, whom he left in the care of a coworker. The child is from a previous relationship, reported KhaoSod.
The taxi’s owner, Loong Thun Kumngeun, rushed to Khu Khot Police Station upon learning about the arrest. He confronted Jirawat angrily. The police charged Jirawat with theft and handed him over to the investigators for further legal proceedings.
