Pattaya City held a public consultation to gather feedback on the proposed Red Line Monorail Project. The meeting featured presentations on environmental impact mitigation measures and the planned route. Residents attended the session to review the details and provide suggestions to ensure the project meets community needs.

Local officials revealed that the Red Line Monorail will stretch from Dolphin Roundabout to the Eastern National Stadium, covering approximately 17.37 kilometres. This ambitious project aims to improve public transport while minimising traffic disruptions.

Although the construction and maintenance costs are expected to be high, officials believe the monorail will significantly boost Pattaya’s tourism industry. The project will include 10 stations, each spaced 800 to 1,000 metres apart, with walking distances of 400 to 500 metres.

The investment will be a public-private partnership, supporting Pattaya’s objective to become a major tourism hub within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

“It’s crucial that the project takes into account the environmental impact and the needs of residents.”

Local officials confirmed that feedback from the community will be considered in the final plans. Despite the enthusiasm for the project, there is no estimated time for when construction or completion will take place, a topic that has been under discussion for decades. The lack of a timeline has raised concerns among residents about the feasibility and future of the project.

“We are committed to ensuring that the Red Line Monorail aligns with the best interests of Pattaya’s residents and its future as a tourism hub.”

The consultation is part of an ongoing effort to make the project transparent and inclusive for all stakeholders.

Improving transport infrastructure

The Red Line Monorail Project is expected to be a significant step forward in modernising Pattaya’s public transport infrastructure. As the city continues to grow, the need for efficient and sustainable transport options becomes increasingly important. The monorail aims to address these needs while also promoting economic growth and tourism.

Participants at the meeting expressed a range of opinions, with some concerned about the potential disruptions during construction, while others were optimistic about the long-term benefits. The authorities assured that all feedback would be carefully reviewed to improve the project.

The investment in the monorail is seen as a vital part of Pattaya’s strategic development within the EEC, a region that is rapidly becoming a focal point for economic activity in Thailand. The project is expected to attract more visitors and businesses, further cementing Pattaya’s reputation as a premier destination, reported Pattaya News.
