A Thai man died in a restaurant in Pattaya under suspicious circumstances, with his family suspecting foul play due to visible injuries on his body. The incident occurred yesterday, July 18, at an Isaan restaurant in the Nongprue sub-district, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province.

Police officers from Bang Lamung Police Station, along with rescue volunteers, responded swiftly to the scene. Inside the coffee shop adjacent to the restaurant, the body of 34 year old Somkid Muenpol was discovered. His face and head were swollen and bruised, and he had marks of assault all over his body. Broken glasses were found nearby, suggesting a possible struggle.

Police secured the area to preserve evidence. A white Isuzu pickup truck belonging to the victim was found parked without any signs of theft.

Witnesses, including the Pattaya restaurant owner and a group of teenagers, present at the scene, were reportedly uncooperative. The restaurant owner attempted to close the establishment, and the teenagers tried to leave, raising further suspicion. Police have withheld their names pending further investigation.

The family of the deceased provided crucial details, stating that Somkid entered the Isaan restaurant alone and intoxicated. He allegedly disrupted other patrons by trying to join their table and making inappropriate comments about the restaurant owner, which led to a confrontation.

Somkid’s family believes he may have been beaten to death, given the extent of his injuries. They have called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.

Bang Lamung police assured that all individuals present during the incident will be summoned for questioning. The body of the deceased will be sent to the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, reported Pattaya News.
