Laotian man killed by hit-and-run truck near Pattaya
A tragic accident occurred on Bypass Road 36 near Pattaya when a Laotian man was struck and killed by a truck, whose driver fled the scene. The incident took place at 5pm yesterday, September 24, prompting Nongprue police and a rescue team from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation to rush to the location in the Pong area of Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province.
Upon arrival, police discovered the body of Vanh Siboonrueang, a 33 year old Laotian man, with severe injuries. His body was severely crushed. Rescue workers swiftly transported the body to a local hospital to shield passersby from the distressing sight.
Roughly 50 metres away from where the body was found, a heavily damaged Honda Wave motorcycle lay scattered across the road. Police stated that Vanh had been struck by a truck, whose driver fled immediately after the collision.
CCTV footage revealed that Vanh was attempting to cross from the left lane to the far-right lane to make a U-turn. The truck, travelling in the far-right lane, likely did not see him and struck him, dragging the motorcycle for nearly 100 metres. The force of the impact resulted in the rider’s death, reported The Pattaya News.
Police are actively working to locate the truck driver to pursue legal action.
In related news, a tragic hit-and-run incident in Pattaya left a family grieving and seeking justice after a 56 year old woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck. The driver fled the scene, leaving the victim in critical condition, leading to her eventual death.
On the morning of September 4, 56 year old Somphat Saensainet, was severely injured after being struck by a pickup truck in Soi Bongkot 8, Pattaya. Despite the severity of her injuries, the driver sped away, abandoning her at the scene.
Bystanders found her in a pool of blood and immediately reported the incident to the Pattaya City Police. Despite their efforts, Somphat succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of September 8.
