A 44 year old Indian man yesterday tragically drowned in a Pattaya hotel swimming pool. The incident took place at 8.30pm in a well-known South Pattaya hotel, which remains unnamed by local police as they continue their investigation.

The Indian tourist, identified as Vivek Kumar, was reportedly enjoying his time in the pool with an Indian woman, whose name has been withheld. According to Mongkhon Wichasawat, a 22 year old witness, Kumar had been diving and playing in the water before he suddenly sank to the bottom of the pool.

Initially, the woman and other onlookers believed that Kumar was joking around, as he had been diving and playing for some time. However, when he failed to resurface after about a minute, witnesses raised the alarm and called for security assistance.

Hotel security personnel and other helpful individuals promptly pulled Kumar out of the water and contacted emergency services. Despite the best efforts of Sawang Boriboon Rescue Services, they were unable to fully resuscitate Kumar, who sadly passed away later.
